SFBAM recently talked with Dr. Michael Goran, PhD. – Co-director of the USC Diabetes and Obesity Research Institute and professor of pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles – about all things sugar, including newly-released studies showing Type 2 diabetes has doubled in U.S. kids during COVID-19 and his book, Sugarproof: The Hidden Dangers of Sugar That Are Putting Your Child’s Health at Risk and What You Can Do.
We talked about being a smart consumer and how to begin to develop this skill in your children, even at a young age. We also talked about the dangers of sugar and how it can affect your child’s sleep, behaviors, and other health issues.
His book is filled with actions you can take as a family to reduce sugar intake as well as fun recipes (easy and kid friendly)!
